It is now September....the shoulder took more surgery than expected, and healing taking longer, too.  Therapy three days a week for a couple months is the prescription, to strengthen now weak muscles and tendons.  Maybe riding will be my Christmas present, hopefully sooner.  So next year will now be ride time, as horse and I will need that time to get back in shape.

Another 'hitch' has developed.  Jane has a horse related injury to her shoulder that requires surgery to repair.  This will take weeks to recover, puting our ride into a whole new time frame.   They say things happen for a reason......

Two Updates Because of Technical Problems

leaving White StoneApril 13

Left White Stone to ride to Jack Jackson's farm at Lively, where we spent the night.  As it really rained in the night and continued thru the day,  we trailered to White's Ferry, MD where we stayed at Frozen Levels Farm.

We left in the morning in the rain, but had a great 20 miles to Brunswick Family Campground, right on the canal, where we got a hot shower! Frozen Levels

A real good ride although short today, on the towpath between the canal and the   mighty Potomac rapids.  The blue bells blooming and the peepers singing their  praises,   the weather warm and sunny.

Several stressful  things happening and losing our driver has brought our ride to a premature, I hope temporary, close.  We need  a driver for the rig to take it to the next stop for the night.  If you readers have any ideas, let me know at janemarch@netzero.net.  A 'working' vacation for someone who has the time.  Another retiree perhaps?  We made it to Harper's Ferry area and now heading for home to re-group.

Well They're Off...

Jane and Holly pray with the minister as he asks for blessing for the horses and iders before the trail ride.Jane and Holly left on their ride on Easter Sunday after a blessing of the horses. Hopefully you will all hear from one of them soon via their blog. Here is a picture of the blessing of the horses on Easter Sunday and the backend of the Golden Girls Ride trailer as it left Zuni. The plan was to start riding from the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Bon Voyage and Safe Travels!!!

March 30
Our daughters (Holly's daughter, Amy; Jane's daughter, Angela) surprized us with a 'Happy Trails' bon voyage party Friday night at the Horse and Hound Tack Shop seminar on Mylar bits.  We were floored by the friends and family from near and far that came to wish us well.  And brought gifts! The greatest gift is carrying the ashes of a dear departed friend with us to scatter in the Pacific when we get there!  Bobbi loved her Arabs, her family, and her friends and died to soon. Her daughter, Andrea,  asking us to take her with us is surely a gift.  Aren't daughters grand?!
